USA DJ Training was founded in Philadelphia in 2021 by working DJs who know great DJs aren’t made through online courses. What began as a 500-member University of Pennsylvania training program is now the country’s most widespread hands-on DJ school, operating in nine cities. We’ve trained hundreds of students through a structured, hands-on curriculum led by certified instructors who are working DJs with years of industry experience. Every concept is reinforced through practical exercises behind the decks. Whether students want to DJ for fun or develop professional-level skills, many have gone on to perform at venues and hold nightclub residencies across the country.

By the end of the fundamentals program, you won't just understand DJing — you'll be able to step up to the decks, build a set, mix with confidence, and play for real people.
DJing Background
Learn about vinyl, CDJs, and the history of modern mixing equipment. Master song selection by key, genre, and BPM. Become an artist of set design and controlling musical atmosphere and energy.
Equipment
Discover the functions of the modern Pioneer DJ® club mixer and deck. Learn about input devices, and how sound is created.
Software
Choose the right software for your interests. Understand the difference between Serato and Rekordbox, compared to other tools on the market.
Beatmatching
Learn how to count beats, about the basic structure of songs in various genres, and about the fundamentals of beatmatching. Learn phrasing, cueing, and nudging.
EQ & Music Theory
Discover the components of a song, how EQ can be used to create fullness in the mix and master smooth transitions. Master harmonic mixing, the Camelot wheel, and musical moods.
Loops, FX & Your First Performance
Master looping with slip mode, in transitions, and with EQ. Discover Beat & Color FX, and learn to use them to elevate your first performance. Record a promo-ready set to share with your friends and family.

Pro DJ Fundamentals
In-studio, hands-on training. Begin with a low-commitment 2‑hour taster, then continue into our course that takes you from zero to your first confident performance. Typical group size of 3.
- Go from complete beginner to confident, gig-ready DJ
- 10 hours of training over 5 weeks (5 × 2‑hour sessions)
- Record a promo-ready set at the end of the program
